We carry a wide range of MD Skincare Products!
MD Skincare, conceived
by renowned dermatologist Dr. Dennis Gross, grew out of his passion for
scientific research, his vast experience with patients, and his
conviction that "with the right skincare products, you can achieve at
home what it once took a visit to a dermatologist to accomplish."
Fascinated by the complexity of skin and its importance as an
immunologic
organ, Dr. Gross began his career as a research scientist. As a cancer
researcher, he routinely grew skin cells in test tubes, quickly learning
about the different elements of skin. "When you grow cells in culture,
you are like a parent to a child," he says. "The cell is totally
dependent on you to grow and flourish." By studying both normal and
abnormal cells, he soon discovered precisely what makes skin cells
healthy.
Armed with this knowledge, Dr. Gross went on to medical school and
decided to pursue a career in dermatology. Once he established a private
practice, he realized that "it was one large focus group," he says. "My
patients were constantly complaining about the products they were buying
at cosmetic counters—they never seemed to get the results they wanted or
expected. Not only did I listen to their dissatisfactions, I treated the
consequences of many of the products—and knew there was tremendous room
for improvement."
Dr. Gross was convinced that, with his research background, he could
formulate skincare products that were far superior to those that were
commercially available. He especially felt that the chemical peels of
the early 1990s, based on glycolic acid, produced less than optimal
results and were far too irritating.
So Dr. Gross began designing his own formulas "based on natural
ingredients and chemistry principles for keeping skin healthy without
irritating it." He created a revolution in skincare with his now-famous
Alpha Beta® Peel, using gentle-but-effective alpha- and beta-hydroxy
acids. "The results," he says, "were so profound that I knew I had
something radically better than what was out there." Soon, however, his
patients began demanding products they could use at home. "And that was
the beginning of MD Skincare."
Today, all products in the MD Skincare line stem not only from Dr.
Gross's understanding of the biology of human skin, but from his
knowledge of the latest scientific research. "I evaluate data from
around the world in order to decide what ingredients to use," he
explains. Every formulation is unique. All MD Skincare products are
multi-functional and use only medical-grade ingredients that work
synergistically with each other. Says Dr. Gross, "My goal is to use
cutting-edge technology in all of my products and to serve my
patients—and the public—by filling any voids that exist."
Dr. Gross received his medical degree from New York University Medical
Center. He is board certified in both Dermatology and Dermatologic
Surgery and is a nationally recognized pioneer in skincare. He is also
an innovator in dermatologic research at Memorial Sloan Kettering
Institute, The Rockefeller Institute, and New York University Medical
Center, all in New York City. Dr. Gross is a fellow and active member of
the American Academy of Dermatology, New York Dermatological Society,
the Society for Dermatological Surgery and Oncology, and the American
Cancer Society.
